Clarity Of Thought On Being Your True Self

Transparent Moment: There’s no reason to put up the front

I’ve been struggling with a lack of freedom in my mind. Between what I have going on in my personal life, and what’s happening in my career, I’ve been experiencing moments of suffocation.

In order to cope, I try to stay busy; but, there is always a sense of despair that follows.

I was presenting myself as something I was not to everyone, not just people close to me. Once you start doing this you lose sight of who you really are.

The more I try to be “authentic” by putting on a different persona, the more frantic I feel.

Why did I care about what others thought of my identity?

What did I honestly believe would happen if they knew the real Tim?

So many questions have filled my mind guys!

Once I started reading my morning devotional, a lot of stuff started to make sense. In fact, it was as if someone had just hit me across the head and said “Wake up.”

Devotional Title: Image Movement – Growing Through Failure

When I began to read this devotional, I realized it was gnawing away at my flesh because it began to reveal the truth that I had been hiding from.

As an entrepreneur, we try to keep up appearances. And at times, we find ourselves lying and hiding our true feelings, from others, ourselves, and, yes, even God.

Problem is, between the seen and unseen challenges that come with being a business owner, they are already delivering more frustrations, anxiety, and opportunities to be depressed than we want.

So, where does that leave us mentally? Physically? Emotionally? Spiritually?

I was left in a disoriented state, and that left me devaluing my self-worth.

I was in a downward spiral. I felt lost. People tried to stop me from spiraling down, but nothing worked.

But thank you God! You always provide a way out, and right now I can see that clearly.

It was time for a change. I no longer wanted to wear a mask. People can only get to know me for who I truly am if they see the real me, unedited .”

When you’re going through a tough week, remember that it will get better. It might take a few days, but that doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Fight for your goals!

So, what have I decided to do and remember?

1 Corinthians 10:13

No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.

Today, I made a decision to remove the mask!

I’m tired of lying to myself, to others… But more importantly, God!

Today, I commit to continue being actively aware that it’s okay to be ME!

It’s really okay to bring our cares, worries and any other feelings to Christ.

In Luke 18:9-14, it talks about the Pharisee who basically put a mask on when coming to Christ. Only acknowledging the good, but trying to separate himself from the bad.

But for the tax collector, he was completely vulnerable and transparent with his position in life to Christ.

That it was the tax collector who went home justified and fulfilled due to being honest with Christ.

Let’s stand up today and commit to being  true!

True to ourselves.

True to others.

Most importantly, true to Christ.

Lord, thank You for filling me with the power of Your Spirit. Please show me where You want me to go, and give me the courage to follow wherever You lead. Make me bold, and give me the words to faithfully share Your grace, Your truth, and Your love. Help me always remember that You are the source of my strength. Remind me daily to stay connected to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
